Build and Conquer Upkeep and Profit: Calculate a Listed Margin

Listed income minus listed upkeep is a useful building-panel margin, but it is not total city profit.

How do gross income and the listed margin differ?

Recorded building Listed income / cycle Listed upkeep / cycle Panel-only margin
Farm Field, October 12 75 2 73
Shop, October 12 65 3 62
High Rise, Fundo recording 225 33 192
Glass Tower, October 11 865 126 739

These rows belong to different recordings. The margins are subtraction examples, not a live ranking or an assertion that their utility costs are identical.

What does the whole-city panel show instead?

The demonstrated city receives 168 from residents and 344 from shops, adds 0 for layout, and subtracts 29 upkeep, producing a net payout of 483. Its displayed pay interval is 30 seconds. The panel is useful because it separates the components; copying its total into your own city would ignore different buildings and residents.

Can you calculate a construction payback period?

A simplified estimate divides the quoted construction money by the panel-only margin. For the $600 Farm Field and a margin of 73, that is roughly 8.22 recorded pay cycles. It excludes water setup, construction duration, possible income variation and other expenses. Label the result a simplified model, not a tested break-even time.

When a comparison lacks either income or upkeep, leave the margin unverified. Zero is a real value and must not be used as a placeholder for an unknown cost. The building comparison tool applies that distinction to its dated housing dataset.
