Build and Conquer Power: Supply, Demand & Substation Checks

Power generation and coverage are distinct checks in the recorded tutorial.

What does a substation need before it can relay power?

The October 12 in-game tutorial says to place a Substation inside an area that already has power; it then passes power to its own circle. The selected panel separately requires a road within 4 studs. The red placement message in the recorded preview explicitly identifies that road requirement.

Power must reach the substation before it can relay coverage; displayed road, upkeep and limit.

How do you distinguish demand from coverage?

Demand is the energy a selected building asks for. Coverage is whether the building lies within a supplied area. The Oil Pump panel lists 20 energy; the House lists 5. A city’s missing coverage is not automatically evidence that the total generator output is too small, and enough total power is not proof that a remote building receives it.

Use two separate observations: inspect the named building’s energy requirement, then inspect its placement against supplied coverage. If you use a relay, confirm that it itself receives power before checking its destination circle. Keep the road condition visible while moving the preview.

What should a power expansion include?

List the demand added by the next construction batch and the receiving positions that need coverage. Check the selected generator’s current output and running costs; we have not verified a complete Wind, Solar, Coal or Nuclear output table. Include the recorded substation’s $2 upkeep as a support cost where relevant, while treating its $700 quote and 25-per-city limit as dated panel values.
